The Canberra Region Presbytery is made up of representatives from local Uniting Church congregations and faith communities meeting between Crookwell to the north, through to ACT, Cooma and Jindabyne and along the south coast of NSW between Bateman's Bay all the way down to Eden. The Presbytery elects office bearers and employs staff and ministers to administratively and pastorally support the congregations within the region. The Presbytery is overseen by the Synod of NSW & ACT, representing all presbyteries of NSW & ACT. Synods work co-operatively with presbyteries to support the regional councils in their care of congregations. The Synod of NSW and the ACT consists of 50,000 members and 14 Presbyteries. The Synod provides representation to the Assembly, the national council of the Uniting Church in Australia. The Assembly works co-operatively with state, territorial and regional synods and presbyteries to inform how the Uniting Church serves and supports communities and engages with social issues across the country.
