Connecting with Wider Community
By Rev Andrew Smith and Rev Duncan McDiarmid

The Eurobodalla Health, Wellbeing and Community Groups expo took place on Saturday 12 November 2022 in the auditorium of the Batemans Bay Soldiers Club. The expo provided something for everyone, from health and wellbeing ideas, to information about local health services and exhibits from local community groups. The theme of this year’s expo was all about wellbeing and connection.

Members of Eurobodalla Uniting Church joined in to represent the congregation’s outreach services. These included displays and take-aways about Dove In and Pivot Point that provide services to the community and particularly those experiencing hard times. Our services are available on Mondays and Fridays. We have shower facilities available and the opportunity for using our laundry facilities. Pivot Point primarily supports those in tough times with emergency food relief, but also has the capacity to support people needing to travel for medical appointments and those needing help to fill Prescriptions at a local pharmacy. Dove In, provides a social opportunity for any members of the local community to drop in for a chat and a cuppa. Developing support networks for those otherwise isolated in our community. Volunteers for the service are drawn from the Congregation and from the wider community. The facilities are currently being upgraded through grants that have recognised the role played by the congregation during the bushfires and our ongoing commitment to nurturing a resilient community.
